1500 Clock Hours of Study
The Cosmetology course is designed and administered to prepare students in the skills necessary for performing haircutting, hairstyling, permanent waving, coloring, manicures, pedicures and basic skin care. This course prepares the student to qualify to take the state board exam for a Cosmetology license. This program is 1,500 clock hours in length and offered in a daily schedule and NOW offering evening and Saturday schedule for part time students. Admissions requirements are published elsewhere in this catalog.
The Cosmetology Program is divided into two levels of study: Theory (750 clock hours) , in which we provide in a classroom setting, and (750 clock hours) in the salon with your very own workspace being supervised by a licensed professional that we select for the student. The program consists of courses and classes that meet the requirements of 750 theory hours and 750 salon hours, in accordance with the requirements of the Tennessee Board of Cosmetology.
(1) Apprenticeship student" means a student enrolled in a school participating in an apprenticeship program with the intention of completing the school's curriculum under that school's apprenticeship program.
(2)"Supervising Licensed professional" means a Licensee in the field of study of an enrolled
(3) apprenticeship student who is in responsible charge of supervising and accounting for that student's apprenticeship program creditable activities and providing the participating school with the student's apprenticeship activity record.
(4) (a) The fifteen hundred (1,500) clock hours/ 45 credit hours of instruction required of applicants for a license to practice cosmetology shall be apportioned as follows:

The Pink Salon & The Beauty Vault Institute of Cosmetology.
This 16 hr. (2 day) course aims to provide comprehensive training on safety and sanitation practices specific to the hair braiding industry. Participants will learn essential knowledge and practical skills necessary to maintain a clean and safe environment for both clients and braiders. The course will cover various aspects of sanitation, disinfection, personal hygiene, and regulatory compliance with the State of Tennessee. Classes are biweekly Sundays 9am- until. Fees Must Be Paid in Full Before Start of Class Sunday.
16 Hour Course Outline:
Introduction to Safety & Sanitation 1 hr.
Sanitation Procedures 2 hr.
Personal hygiene & Protective Measures 1.5 hr.
Client Safety & Comfort 1.5 hr.
Infection Control 2 hr.
Environmental Safety 1 hr.
Record Keeping /Tennessee State Laws and Compliance 1.5 hr.
HIV/AIDS & Other Communicable Diseases .5 hr.
Disease & Disorders of the Scalp 2 hr.
Basic Braiding Techniques 2 hr.
Financial Literacy/ Grow Income & Clientele 1 hr.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!! This course DOES NOT require learning how to braid hair. We educate to meet Tn state law requirements of 16 hours in health, hygiene, and sanitation to become a legal registered hair braider in the state of Tennessee, however, we do offer an additional portion that may be added to the required certification portion to learn braiding techniques. Please add the additional course or enroll in our full cosmetology apprenticeship program for all the necessary skills to become a fully licensed cosmetologist. If you are adding the technique portion you may select to purchase a mannequin and stand(required) or bring your own which is optional for students.

AGAIN, THE BRAIDING TECHNIQUE COURSE IS AN OPTIONAL ADD ON TO THE MANDATORY REQUIRED SANITATION & DISINFECTION COURSE. We certify students with the state of Tennessee's requirements as a professional braider.
